- Veterans Day originated as “Armistice Day” on Nov. 11, 1919
- In 1965, President Eisenhower officially changed the name of the holiday to Veterans Day
- Veterans Day is often confused with Memorial Day – Memorial Day honors American service members who died in service whereas Veterans Day celebrates all American veterans, living or dead
- There are approximately 21 million military veterans in the United States
