English as a New Language


The purpose of the English as a New Language program is to teach students English, enabling them to succeed in schools where English is the language of instruction. The English as a New Language program is primarily to teach English by using vocabulary and structures commonly found in the content area classes.

Admission Requirements

  1. Apply to the Graduate College and satisfy the minimum admissions requirements of the Graduate College. International applicants must satisfy the international admissions requirements.
  2. A baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution of higher learning or a degree from a non-U.S. institution of higher education that is judged equivalent to a U.S. baccalaureate degree by the International Admissions Office.
  3. A statement of 500-1000 words that explains your professional goals and the ways in which the program will help you achieve them.
  4. A list of your teaching experience.
