Music Education


The Master of Music in music education is designed to meet the needs of music education specialists who work in the K-12 school system and who aspire to further graduate study and teaching in music education.  Courses encompass research, pedagogy, history and philosophy, music theory and history.

Admission Requirements:

1. Apply to the Graduate College and satisfy the minimum admissions requirements of the Graduate College. International applicants must satisfy the international admissions requirements.

2. A B.M. in music education, or equivalent degree, with teacher certification, from a regionally accredited U.S. institution of higher learning or from a non-U.S. institution of higher education that is judged equivalent to a U.S. baccalaureate degree by the International Admissions Office.

3. A formal writing sample.

4. Your teaching resume.

5. Three letters of recommendation from professionals familiar with your teaching.

Application Deadlines:

Priority Admissions: February 9.  Application materials must be received three weeks before the end of the Spring semester to be considered for admission for the following Fall.
