Educational Technology is an innovative way to design, deliver, facilitate, and manage instruction for learners of all ages, whether it is face-to-face in a classroom, online, or a combination of methods. The Department of Educational Technology offers doctoral and master’s degrees.

Master of Educational Technology, M.E.T.
Master of Science in Educational Technology, M.S.E.T.
Students may take a graduate certificate program in alignment with a master’s degree as an option:
Online Teaching (OT), G.C.
Technology Integration (TI), G.C.
School Technology Coordination (STC), G.C.

Admission Requirements

M.E.T.

  1. Apply to the Graduate College and satisfy the minimum admissions requirements of the Graduate College. International applicants must satisfy the international admissions requirements.
  2. A baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution of higher learning or a degree from a non-U.S. institution of higher education that is judged equivalent to a U.S. baccalaureate degree by the International Admissions Office.
  3. An essay of about 500 words in which you tell us about your educational and professional background, your career goals, and how the Educational Technology program will help you attain them. In addition, please tell us why you are choosing our program and why you will be a successful graduate student.
  4. A completed Program Development form: This is a plan of your graduate program and indicates which semesters/years you plan to take each course to complete the program. This form, with instructions, will be shared with you at your Boise State email address from Google Docs as soon as your application is received from the Graduate College. (The EdTech Department receives applications after all transcripts have been received by the Graduate College and the application fee has been paid.) A completed form is required for admissions. M.S.E.T.

  1. Apply to the Graduate College and satisfy the minimum admissions requirements of the Graduate College. International applicants must satisfy the international admissions requirements.
  2. Hold a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
  3. An essay of about 500 words that discusses your educational and professional background, as well as your academic and professional goals. Your statement should also include a discussion of the research area in which you wish to emphasize.
  4. A completed Program Development form:
    This is a plan of your graduate program and indicates which semesters/years you plan to take each course to complete the program. This form, with instructions, will be shared with you at your Boise State email address from Google Docs as soon as your application is received from the Graduate College. (The EdTech Department receives applications after all transcripts have been received by the Graduate College and the application fee has been paid.) A completed form is required for admissions.   5. Official GRE Scores. The test must have been taken within five years of the application date.
